Mumbai, August 13: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday shared a glimpse of his visit to IBM’s innovation hub in Mumbai, where he explored cutting-edge technologies and even tried his hand at an AI-powered cricket simulator.

In a post on social media, accompanied by a picture of him holding a cricket bat, Fadnavis wrote, “Enjoyed exploring IBM’s innovative space in Mumbai, witnessing how technology, AI and creativity are shaping the future. The AI-powered cricket simulator was particularly engaging and showcased India’s progress toward a digitally empowered, technologically advanced nation.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated IBM’s new office in Mumbai today, calling it a pivotal step toward shaping the future of both Maharashtra and India.

He said the centre would drive the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Maharashtra through emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and quantum computing, which he believes will transform sectors including business, governance, security, logistics and agriculture.

Citing a recent deepfake incident involving his image and voice, Fadnavis acknowledged AI’s risks but stressed that technology itself offers solutions.

He also highlighted quantum computing’s potential in sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture that could benefit nearly half of Maharashtra’s population, and emphasised the need to develop skilled human resources through collaborations like this one.

The CM’s visit focused on understanding how artificial intelligence, data analytics and creative solutions are being used to drive progress in various sectors. The cricket simulator, which uses AI to track batting performance and simulate real-time match conditions, was among the highlights of the tour.

Fadnavis praised the advancements being made in technology and expressed optimism that innovations like these could help position India as a global leader in the digital space.
