Kharghar, March 2025: The NSS Unit of Saraswati College of Engineering (SCOE), Kharghar, has wrapped up the academic year 2024–25 with a remarkable record of service, social awareness, and environmental action. The unit undertook more than 95 activities, touching thousands of lives in Navi Mumbai and beyond.
Year Kicks Off with Health and Awareness Drives
The year began with International Yoga Day and multiple blood donation drives at Belapur, Vashi, Kalamboli, and the SCOE campus. Awareness programs addressing crucial issues including POCSO Act seminars, child psychology webinars, and organ donation talks was conducted to empower youth.
Environmental Action at the Core
Environmental initiatives remained central, with over 15 mangrove and fort clean-up drives at Seawoods, Kharghar, Girgaon Chowpatty, and Kalavantin Durg. Tree plantation efforts such as “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and campus greening projects was stated to have reinforced SCOE’s eco-commitment.
Patriotism in Action
National days were celebrated with patriotic fervour, from Independence Day’s Har Ghar Tiranga to Gandhi Jayanti’s Bhajan Sandhya and Republic Day’s Artshala programme. NSS Foundation Day was marked with a major blood donation camp on campus.
Active Role in Elections and Festive Season Management
" Volunteers played a crucial role during election duties in Nerul and Kamothe, assisting with voter guidance, elderly support, and crowd management. They also aided traffic regulation and market cleanliness during festive seasons," said the Principal Dr. Manjusha Deshmukh.
Social Inclusion and Community Outreach
Program officer Sanjay Singh informed that social inclusion took centre stage with events like an orphanage visit on Janmashtami, Rakhi sales to support tribal women, and the Diwali with My Bharat Campaign, which included cloth and stationery donations for the underprivileged.
Skill-building was promoted through a soft skills development programme, hospital visits, and Pulse Polio immunization drives.

Commitment to NSS Motto ‘Not Me, But You’
A highlight of the year was the NSS Residential Camp at Dhamani Village, where volunteers constructed a weir dam for villagers, conducted cleanliness drives, held awareness rallies, planted trees, organised skill-building workshops, and engaged deeply with the rural community — living up to the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You.”
