The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a special drive amid ongoing monsoon rains to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. As part of the initiative, the civic body has imposed fines on construction sites and other locations responsible for water accumulation and waterlogging.

Three construction sites in Kalyan were fined ₹25,000 collectively for failing to prevent mosquito breeding conditions.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Harshal Gaikwad, along with other civic officials, inspected sanitation conditions across various localities. These included the 1/A ward in Kalyan, the Gajanan Maharaj Temple premises in 3/C ward, Saibaba Nagar, Gulmohar Society in Ward No. 29, Sadguru Kripa Colony, Shri Krishna Colony, Shakuntala Bhavan in Ward No. 28, Khandelwal Colony, and the Gaondevi Temple premises.

During the special inspection, officials examined around 200 plastic drums, of which 30 were found to have signs of mosquito breeding, potentially linked to dengue transmission.

KDMC has appealed to citizens to avoid long-term storage of water, especially in open drums, as stagnant water creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes during the rainy season.

According to KDMC officials, dengue mosquito symptoms were specifically detected at three construction sites located in Rokde Colony and the Panchmukhi Maruti Mandir area. These sites has been fined ₹25,000 Collectively by the municipal authorities.
