Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) marked Independence Day with a grand Tiranga Festival, featuring cultural programmes, exhibitions, and the felicitation of freedom fighters’ families, in a bid to inspire patriotism and unity.
MLA Vikrant Patil Urges Youth to Strengthen Har Ghar Tiranga Movement
Speaking at the Aadya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Auditorium, MLA Vikrant Patil said, “Every Indian must have the tricolour not just in their homes but also in their hearts. The youth must take the lead in campaigns like Har Ghar Tiranga to make our nation stronger.”
He added that against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, this year’s Independence Day held special significance, and the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative should reach every corner of the country.
MLA Prashant Thakur Lauds Tiranga Festival as a Mass Movement
MLA Prashant Thakur called the Tiranga Festival “a commendable initiative” and noted that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign had evolved from a government programme into a mass movement. “Panvel Municipal Corporation has conducted several activities across the city to spread this spirit,” he said, extending Independence Day greetings.
Cultural Highlights and Patriotic Exhibitions Draw Public Participation
The festival featured a Partition Remembrance Day photo exhibition, a display on the history of the national flag, a massive tricolour rangoli, a selfie booth, tricolour-themed art, and the patriotic cultural programme Bharat Gaurav Gatha.
Honours for Freedom Fighters’ Descendants and Award-Winning Firefighter
Twelve descendants of freedom fighters were honoured for their families’ sacrifices, while firefighter Shubhangi Ghule of Panvel Fire Brigade was felicitated for winning silver and bronze medals at an international competition in the USA.

Senior Civic Officials Join Musical Finale
The event was attended by senior civic officials, including Transport Manager Kailas Gawde, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate, and other department heads. It concluded with a musical performance celebrating India’s pride and patriotism, arranged by Sahil Relekar.
