Mumbai: As Mumbai prepares to welcome Lord Ganesha with open arms, preparations are already in full swing at Girgaon Chowpatty, one of the city's famous spots for Ganpati Visarjan (immersion). With Ganesh Chaturthi beginning officially on August 27 this year, the city is abuzz with energy, and devotees are gearing up for the grand celebrations.
Every year, thousands of devotees gather at Girgaon Chowpatty to witness the emotional and spiritual farewell of their beloved Bappa. From the second day of the 11-day festival, idols begin arriving for immersion in the Girgaon Chowpatty, with the crowd peaking on Anant Chaturdashi, the final day.
This year is no different. The BMC and local authorities have already begun erecting barricades, setting up lighting systems, and deploying security personnel to manage the expected surge of crowds. Volunteers and organisers are coordinating logistics to ensure smooth idol arrivals and immersions.
Meanwhile, the festive spirit has already taken over Mumbai’s neighbourhoods. Videos and photos from Parel, a key hub for Ganesh idol-making, show the grand arrival of beautifully crafted idols. The traditional dhol-tasha beats and chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya!" echo across the city, bringing communities together in joy and devotion. With less than two weeks to go, Mumbai is ready once again to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 with enthusiasm, faith, and cultural pride.
BEST Urges Ganesh Mandals To Apply Early For Electricity Connections
In another news story related to Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has issued detailed instructions for public Ganeshotsav Mandals seeking temporary electricity connections. Mandals are encouraged to submit their applications early to prevent any last-minute delays.
"The application must include complete details such as the Mandal's name, full address, duration of electricity requirement, and contact information of the authorised representative. Bank account details are also mandatory for processing NEFT refunds of the security deposit, including bank name, account number, and branch information. Additionally, each application must carry the official rubber stamp of the Mandal and an undertaking accepting full responsibility for electrical safety at the pandal site," said an official.
