The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an eco-friendly Ganpati decoration competition under its Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 6.0, themed “Festival of Ganpati, Awakening for the Environment.” The initiative, aims to blend the traditional fervour of Ganeshotsav with environmental conservation. Recently the competition poster was unveiled at the civic headquarters.

Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an eco-friendly Ganpati decoration competition under its Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 6.0, themed “Festival of Ganpati, Awakening for the Environment.”

The initiative, aims to blend the traditional fervour of Ganeshotsav with environmental conservation. Recently the competition poster was unveiled at the civic headquarters.

"This is not just about prizes – it’s about inspiring sustainable celebrations. If households and mandals embrace eco-friendliness, our city will become cleaner, greener, and more sustainable,” said Deputy Commissioner Kharge.

Plastic-Free, Biodegradable Materials Encouraged for Sustainable Celebrations

Participants are encouraged to use plastic-free, thermocol-free, biodegradable materials, natural colours, and reusable items. " The contest, open to both household and public groups, seeks to promote eco-friendly practices while spreading an environmental message," said an official.

Competition Open to Households and Public Groups with ₹1 Lakh Prize Pool

Registrations are open until August 24, 2025 via www.pmc.majhivasundhara.org or through the QR code provided by the civic body. A total of ₹1 lakh in prize money will be awarded. For details, residents can contact 7400 100 737.
