Eid Al-Adha 2025: Crescent Moon For Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH Sighted In Mumbai & Other Parts Of India, Bakrid To Be Celebrated On June 7

As the crescent moon sighting has been announced today, the first day of the last month of the Islamic calendar will be observed on Thursday (May 29) and Eid-ul-Azha 2025 will be celebrated in Saturday (June 7) and the Arafat Day (Youmul Hajj) will be observed in Friday (June 6).

Mumbai, May 28: The crescent Moon for the Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH has been sighted in Mumbai and other parts of the country on Wednesday (May 28). As per the sighting, the festival of Eid al-Adha 2025 or Bakrid 2025 will be celebrated in India on June 7.

As the crescent moon sighting has been announced today, the first day of the last month of the Islamic calendar will be observed on Thursday (May 29) and Eid-ul-Azha 2025 will be celebrated in Saturday (June 7) and the Arafat Day (Youmul Hajj) will be observed in Friday (June 6).

There are reports that the Central Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee and the President of Majlis Ulema-e-Deccan officially announced that the moon has been sighted and announced the date for the Festival of Sacrifice accordingly.

Eid Al-Adha In Mumbai

The Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, Masjid-e-Jama in Mumbai announced, "Peace be upon you! The Central Moon Sighting Committee (Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee), Masjid-e-Jama, Mumbai has announced today, Wednesday (Bhod), dated 29th Zilqadah 1446 Hijri, corresponding to 28th May 2025, that the moon has been sighted. Therefore, tomorrow will be the 1st of Zilhijjah 1446 Hijri, corresponding to 29th May 2025."

Saudi Arabia Eid Al-Adha Date

Saudi Arabia and the other neighbouring Gulf countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman, officially announced the sighting of the Dhul-Hijjah moon on Tuesday (May 27). Other countries including Jordan, Iraq, Syria as well as communities in the UK, US, Canada and France have also confirmed the same, as they follow Gulf countries.

With the lunar month beginning on Wednesday (May 28), these countries will observe Arafat Day (Youmul Hajj) on Thursday (June 5) and Bakri Eid on Friday (June 6).

This confirmation coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage schedule, during which millions of Muslims will converge in Mecca to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam. Hajj is a religious obligation that must be performed at least once in a lifetime by those who are physically and financially capable.
