Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited several areas of Mumbai, reviewing the ongoing road concretisation work. Shinde has directed the officials to ensure the quality of work is not compromised at the time when the deadline is given to the contractors. The roads should be completed from junction to junction and strict actions should be taken against the contractor if quality is not maintained.

The concretisation of all roads in Mumbai was announced under the potholes-free roads project in 2022, when Shinde was the chief minister. So far, the BMC has completed the concretisation of 1,333 km of roads, and 400 km of roadwork is underway at present. The BMC has given the contractors a deadline of May 31 to complete the ongoing roadworks and make all the roads in Mumbai motorable before the monsoon.

DCM Shinde was joined by BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Mumbai suburbs' guardian minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and other bureaucrats and local leaders.

Shinde started his visit at Bombay Hospital and inspected several roads in south Mumbai and eastern suburbs, including R S Sapre Road, J Jamshed Road in Matunga, Road no 21 in Chembur and others. Speaking with the media, Shinde said that concretisation is the only option to have pothole-free roads in Mumbai.
