Mumbai: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid), a large number of devotees gathered at the famous Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai on Saturday to offer namaz. A video has surfaced online showing the massive crowd offering prayers at the dargah.

Haji Ali Dargah, built in honour of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, is situated on an islet off the coast of Worli, in South Mumbai. Another video from near Bandra railway station shows a peaceful gathering at the Sunni Jama Masjid, where worshippers offered namaz and exchanged warm Eid greetings, celebrating the festival with unity and joy.

The visuals from different locations across Maharashtra, including Pune and Mumbai’s Jama Masjid, show large gatherings of people offering prayers and embracing each other in celebration.

In Pune, due to rainfall, prayers were conducted inside mosques instead of open Eidgahs in rural areas. Despite the weather, around 3,000 Muslims gathered to offer Eid prayers and greet each other warmly. Another video from Mumbai's Mahim area shows people assembling in large numbers at Juma Masjid in Mahim Dargah area to offer namaz on Eid-ul-Azha.

Bakri Eid, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. The date varies each year based on the sighting of the crescent moon. In India, Eid al-Adha is being celebrated today, June 7, 2025.

BEST Bus Routes Diverted Across City Suburbs Due To Road Restrictions On Bakri Eid 2025

Another news story related to the Bakri Eid, Large-scale Bakri Eid celebrations across several city suburbs are expected to cause minor disruptions to daily commuter travel. In response, BEST has announced multiple bus route diversions due to road restrictions implemented for the festivities.

The 90-feet road in Dharavi has been closed to vehicular traffic from 5:00 am, resulting in the diversion of Routes 176 and 463 in both directions via Sion Hospital – Kumbhar Wada. Similarly, Tagore Nagar No. 1 road has also been closed for Eid celebrations, leading to the diversion of Routes 185 and 453 in both directions via Eastern Express Highway – Link Road – Gandhi Nagar from 5:45 am.
