Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced a 12-15 hour water cut in the areas of Kalwa, Mumbra, and Diva on Monday, May 12. This temporary cut in water supply is due to urgent repair work being carried out on a damaged pipeline.
According to the TMC's announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the pipeline that broke is located about 1800 metres from the Jambhul Water Purification Centre of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). This pipeline, which carries impure water, has suffered damage and needs immediate repair.
The repair work began in the early hours of May 12 and is expected to take between 12 and 15 hours to complete. During this time, water supply in all affected areas, including Diva, Mumbra, and Kalwa, will remain completely shut down.
The TMC has requested residents of these areas to store enough water in advance and cooperate during this emergency repair period. Once the pipeline is fixed, the water supply will be restored gradually

MIDC officials are currently working to fix the issue as quickly as possible. The Thane Municipal Corporation also added that they are monitoring the situation closely and ensuring that the repair is completed on time.
The planned water cut is a necessary measure to ensure the safety and reliability of the city's water system. A video shared by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) shows the current condition of the water pipeline in Thane. Due to a broken pipeline, a significant amount of water is leaking. To prevent further waste, the TMC is working on repairing the pipeline, which has led to the water cut in the city.
Citizens are advised to stay updated through TMC’s official social media channels and to plan their water usage accordingly.
