All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, has announced special in-flight and airport activations on the route connecting Mumbai with Japan’s Narita as it celebrates the 60th anniversary of Yokohama-Mumbai Sister City Ties.
The year 2025 marks a significant milestone in the friendship between Japan and India as it commemorates the 60th anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Yokohama and Mumbai, officially established on June 26, 1965. To celebrate this relationship, ANA has rolled out a series of special initiatives throughout June 2025 on its NH829 route from Narita to Mumbai and its return route NH830 route.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the airline will distribute commemorative stickers featuring the 60th anniversary to passengers flying on the routes throughout the month. A 60th anniversary leaflet featuring the Lucky Draw and prizes from Yokohama and ANA will be distributed at Mumbai airport at departures and arrivals. Passengers will be able to scan a dedicated ANA QR code to enter a lucky draw, with exciting prizes including, complimentary stays at Hotel Associa Shin-Yokohama and The Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu, ANA aircraft models, Yokohama Zoo and Sankeien Garden tickets as well as Yokohama-themed merchandise such as coasters, bandanas, and ANA-branded tote bags.
A special in-flight announcement will be made on June 27, on both NH829 and NH830 flights, commemorating the occasion of the sister city agreement. From June 1 to June 30, the ANA check-in counters at Mumbai International Airport will proudly feature the official 60th-anniversary logo.

“This initiative not only highlights ANA’s commitment to connecting cultures but also strengthens the emotional and historical ties between Yokohama and Mumbai. As India–Japan relations continue to grow, ANA is honoured to play a part in celebrating this legacy of friendship,” said a spokesperson of ANA.
Mumbai has 14 sister cities, including Los Angeles, St. Petersburg, Stuttgart, Yokohama, Yonolulu, New York City, Zagreb, Barcelona, Busan, Port Of Odessa, Jakarta, Nadi, Antananarivo and Shanghai. These sister cities engage with each other to promote cultural ties, commercial growth, share knowledge and sign agreements. Mumbai and Yokohama were the very first sister cities between India and Japan. Citizens have been actively engaged in exchange, via the Yokohama Mumbai Friendship Committee for example, and in deepening the friendly relations between the two cities. Since 2003, a Diwali festival is held every year in Yamashita Park, and in 2009, two facilities geared toward the Indian community opened in Yokohama including the Yokohama India Centre in Naka Ward, which offers support to small and mid-sized companies from Yokohama to expand in India, and the Yokohama campus of the India International School in Japan in Midori Ward.
