Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan has followed the same eating pattern for nearly two decades. Her longtime nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, recently shared details of her daily diet, which has remained largely unchanged since 2007.
According to Rujuta, Kareena starts her mornings with a handful of dry fruits like almonds, figs, or raisins. For breakfast, she prefers wholesome Indian dishes such as paratha or poha. Lunch is typically a comforting plate of dal and rice. In the evenings, she enjoys seasonal treats, sometimes a mango or a fresh mango milkshake, or even a simple cheese toast. Dinner often features her all-time favourite dish: homemade khichdi with ghee or pulao.
Kareena herself has described khichdi as her ultimate comfort food, revealing she struggles to fall asleep if she hasn’t eaten it. She first spoke about this at Rujuta’s book launch earlier this year.
The role of fitness and diet in her routine
While Kareena follows a rigorous fitness regimen, including yoga, Pilates, strength training, and cardio, experts emphasise that diet contributes up to 80% of visible fitness results. Her consistent eating habits have clearly played a big role in maintaining her health and physique since her size-zero transformation for Tashan in 2008.
Is eating the same food daily actually healthy?
Many people adopt meal repetition to simplify their lives, but nutritionists highlight that this practice has both upsides and downsides.
Advantages of meal repetition
Supports healthy habits: Having a go-to menu makes it easier to stick to nutritious choices.
Saves time and energy: Planning, shopping, and cooking are much simpler.
Controls portions: You only need to track calories and serving sizes once.
Limits overeating: Limited variety can help curb the temptation to eat more.
What are possible disadvantages of eating the same food?
Nutrient gaps: No single meal provides all the essential vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients your body needs.
Gut microbiome impact: A diverse diet fuels healthy gut bacteria, which also support mental health.
Food boredom: Eating the same meals can lead to disinterest and make you crave less healthy options.
Experts recommend that even if you love a consistent routine like Kareena, it’s wise to include seasonal fruits, vegetables, and a variety of grains and legumes to cover all your nutritional bases.
