Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): A man recently lost ₹82,200 to cyber fraud after being tricked by someone posing as a crime branch officer in Barwani district. The incident took place in Mandwara village.

Ravindra Baghel, a local labourer, received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number on Tuesday. The caller claimed to be a crime branch officer and used a police officer's photo as his profile picture.

He accused Ravindra of watching inappropriate videos, stating that this was illegal and that police would arrest him. To intimidate Ravindra, the caller sent a video showing someone being beaten.

Fearful of getting into trouble, Ravindra complied with the scammer's demands and transferred money through various barcodes and UPI transactions, totalling ₹82,200.

The fraudster later requested an additional ₹1 lakh. After realising he had been deceived, Ravindra confided in his family. Together, they reported the incident to the Barwani Cyber Police and Anjad police station. Further investigation is underway.

Father of four commits suicide

Sendhwa (Madhya Pradesh): A 49-year-old man took his own life in his rented house in Nand Colony, leaving behind a heartbreaking note. In the note, he wrote, "Take care of mummy, take care of Nisha (daughter), I am leaving everyone." Anil was a taxi driver and had recently bought a new car.

According to police, Anil had left his wife at her parents' home days before the incident. Neighbours reported that he returned home early in the morning. When his wife couldn't reach him by phone, she asked their landlord, Anil Gupta, to check on him. The landlord peaked through the window and found Anil hanging from a ceiling hook.

The police were notified and arrived at the scene to handle the situation. Anil had four children from two marriages.
