Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Now, apart from VIPs, Kanwar pilgrims will also be eligible to obtain special entry at Ujjain's Mahakal temple during the holy Shravan month. Kanwar pilgrims coming from all over the country can avail this facility.
The temple committee has arranged entry from gate number four for Kanwariyas coming after hundreds of kilometers of padayatra to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal.
Currently, this gate is reserved for devotees with quick darshan tickets of ₹250. Kanwar pilgrims will also be able to take free Mahaprasadi at Mahakaleshwar Annakshetra.
Shravan from July 11
In the month of Shravan, thousands of Kanwar pilgrims from all over the country come to Ujjain to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal by taking water from Ganga, Narmada and other major rivers. This time also, from July 11 to August 9, Shravan Purnima, the process of Jalabhishek of the Lord will continue in the entire month of Shravan.
To ensure that the Kanwar pilgrims who come to Mahakal after travelling hundreds of kilometres on foot from far off places do not face any problem in performing Jalabhishek of the Lord, their entry has been arranged from gate number four.
From this special gate, the Kanwar pilgrims will enter the temple and reach Ganesh and Kartikeya Mandapam via Vishram Dham, Sabha Mandap and after offering water from the Jalpatra installed here, they will exit the temple as per the prescribed arrangement.
Special entry from Tuesday to Friday
The Kanwar pilgrims will get the facility of entry from the special gate four days a week from Tuesday to Friday from 6 am to 4 pm. This arrangement will remain suspended on Saturday, Sunday and Monday due to excessive crowd.
However, the Kanwar pilgrims will be able to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal even on these crowded days. For this, they will have to stand in the queue of general visitors from the Nandi gate of Shri Mahakal Mahalok.
Water pots will be installed at two places
For the convenience of the devotees who perform Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal in Shravan, water pots will be installed at two places in the temple, Sabha Mandap and Kartikeya Mandapam.
Devotees will offer water in these vessels and the water will be offered to the Lord through a pipe. Please note that on normal days only RO water is offered to Lord Mahakal.
