Indore (Madhya Pradesh): What was supposed to be a one-hour SSC Phase-13 exam turned into a five-hour-long nightmare for hundreds of candidates at Malakanya Higher Secondary School in Indore.

Shockingly, several candidates were allegedly locked inside the exam centre for hours and some were even beaten by the staff.

The Staff Selection Commission exam was scheduled to begin at 5 PM, but many candidates were not allowed to leave until almost 10 PM.

They raised serious complaints about technical glitches, poor management, and even mistreatment by the staff.

Even last year, when TCS was handling the exams, some candidates alleged irregularities— with 40–50 students being selected from one centre.

Instead of fixing the problem, SSC gave the work to another company, which too is proving to be a blunder. Big exams like SSC CGL will soon be held, and students are worried looking at the current condition.

In Indore, the exam was supposed to start at 5 PM, but students were allegedly locked inside the centre until 10 PM. They said they were not allowed to leave even after finishing the test and kept demanding justice for what happened.

More than 400 candidates faced technical issues during the exam, such as hanging computers, non-working mouse, long loading screens, and sudden system shutdowns.

Students Demand...

Students are now demanding that SSC take back the exam contract from Eduquity and give it back to TCS again, as Eduquity has a history of failed exams — including past issues in UPSC exams and other exams too.

With over 29–30 lakh candidates expected to appear in upcoming SSC exams like Income Tax and others, students say, “If Eduquity can’t handle small exams, how will they manage bigger ones?”

They demand accountability and strict action — before it's too late.

One student said, “What is the value of 10 minutes? Ask the students.” Another added, “Even one minute matters in a competitive exam.”

Many students could only start their paper after 5–10 minutes, and they say every lost minute caused mental stress. “We prepare for years for this day, and then face this,” a student said.

Students also said that when they complained, they were either ignored or shouted at.

One girl said even a staff member (female) even raised a hand on her. Another student added, “The invigilator told me he can't do anything about technical issues.”

Some media persons were stopped from recording. An invigilator reportedly said, “This is not our responsibility,” while trying to block cameras.

Many candidates questioned how, especially girls, were expected to travel back so late at night. “We waited for hours, locked inside. Some came from other cities — how will they go home at this hour?” a candidate asked.
