Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Widening of internal roads in the city has begun for the Simhastha Mahaparva 2028. Beginning with Koyla Phatak Square to Metro Talkies Lane, and from Biabani Square to Teliwada, owners are removing parts of the construction marked by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation. They have till June 10 to do so, after which, the UMC will start removing parts obstructing the road-widening process.
Mayor Mukesh Tatwal held a review meeting on the widening work in the presence of MiC member Shivendra Tiwari, commissioner-in-charge Pawan Kumar Singh, and SE Santosh Gupta on Tuesday.
At the meeting, officials informed that citizens themselves are taking action to remove their marked portion, while the work of removing the debris is being done by the concerned contractor, so that the drains do not get clogged.
The Mayor told the officials that the work should be divided into parts. Wherever the work is nearing completion, drain construction and installation of electric poles should begin, he said.Places of worship on the route should be shifted in coordination with the district administration and the residents by building a platform at a designated place, he said.
Virtual bhoomi pujan of ghat construction by PM
PM Narendra Modi will virtually perform the bhoomi pujan of the 29 km-long ghat construction on May 31. The project would cost Rs 778.91 crore. Bhoomi pujan of the barrage and stop dam, to be built for Rs 83.39 crore, will also be done. Ghats to be built on the Kanh and Kshipra rivers will be made of red stone like Ramghat.

The venue of the programme in Ujjain will be the Angareshwar Temple. Public representative officials will participate here. On Tuesday, Collector Raushan Kumar Singh, MLA Anil Jain Kaluheda, UMC Speaker Kalavati Yadav, and other officials reached the venue and issued guidelines. The ground-breaking ceremony of the repair work of the Kaliadeh stop dam at a cost of Rs 1.39 crore will also be done.
