Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The search for the missing Indore couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, who vanished during their honeymoon trip in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji region, has entered its sixth day with no conclusive breakthrough yet. In a move to push for accelerated action, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani met Meghalaya Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang in Shillong on Wednesday and appealed for intensified rescue efforts.

The couple had been exploring the Sohra (Cherrapunji) region, a location famed for its waterfalls, steep cliffs, and tribal settlements, when they reportedly descended into a remote, forested ravine area. Their last known movements suggest a series of disjointed clues: Their scooter and belongings were found scattered in different spots, raising suspicions of foul play.

Lalwani, who was on a tour of Tripura, detoured to Shillong after receiving updates about the couple’s disappearance. He noted the challenging conditions of the region—dense forests, slippery paths, and tribal-dominated settlements—and emphasized the need to connect the available clues to understand what might have happened.

According to local accounts, the couple had coffee and bananas at a small shop before venturing into the deep forested area. The shopkeeper identified them and mentioned that they left shortly after. The couple allegedly descended nearly 1,000 steps into a ravine—now the focal point of the ongoing combing operations.

Authorities have not ruled out a criminal angle, given the unusual distribution of the couple’s items and lack of further trace.

Meanwhile, in Indore, the couple’s distraught family has announced a ₹5 lakh reward for any credible information leading to their safe recovery or the resolution of the case. Posters and social media campaigns are being circulated to raise awareness, and Meghalaya police have urged locals and tourists in the area to report anything suspicious or relevant.

Authorities Request

Police are appealing to anyone present in the Sohra area between May 21 and 24 to share photos, videos, or information that may assist in the investigation.

The situation remains tense, and both local and central authorities are now closely monitoring the developments.
