Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A five-year-old girl tragically lost her life after stepping on a live electric wire in an onion field under Chandan Nagar police station limits on Wednesday. The incident occurred as she was returning home with her mother and relatives after a day of work in the fields.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Tinki, daughter of Lokesh, a resident of Navdapanth. She had accompanied her family to the field to pluck onions. While returning, she accidentally stepped on a live wire, reportedly connected to a boring machine, and received a fatal electric shock.
Initial findings suggest that the wire had a cut or exposed section, which led to the electrocution. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and potential negligence involved in the incident.
In the immediate aftermath, the family members were reluctant to conduct a post-mortem and attempted to take the body home. However, officials at the district hospital alerted Chandan Nagar police, who arrived at the spot and counseled the family, eventually convincing them to allow a post-mortem examination.
