Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): As the clouds cleared, the heat has started to increase sharply in Madhya Pradesh. On Saturday, several parts of the state recorded a rise in daytime temperatures.

Narmadapuram recorded the highest temperature at 42.4°C — the hottest day of the season so far.

According to the Meteorological Department, eight cities saw maximum temperatures ranging between 40°C and 42.2°C. Weather experts say this hot spell is expected to continue for the next two to three days, and some areas might even experience heatwaves.

Weather scientist Prakash Dhawale said that no strong weather system is currently active, which has led to dry weather conditions. Winds are mostly blowing from the west, bringing in hot air that is raising temperatures across the region.

Districts of Madhya Pradesh that share borders with Rajasthan are likely to feel the increased impact of heatwaves in the coming days. These regions are more vulnerable because of their close proximity to neighboring states that are already experiencing high temperatures.

States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra are currently facing intense heat, and the hot winds blowing in from these areas are pushing up temperatures across Madhya Pradesh as well.

These hot and dry winds are expected to continue for a few more days, adding to the discomfort, especially during the afternoon hours. Weather experts say people in these border districts should take extra precautions and avoid stepping out during peak heat hours.

Meanwhile, from April 8 onward, a new western disturbance is expected to become active and may bring some weather changes to parts of North India. However, this system is unlikely to have a major cooling effect on Madhya Pradesh immediately. Therefore, the strong heat conditions are expected to persist in the state for the time being, especially in the central and western regions.
