Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), MP Chapter, is hosting the country’s first carbon-neutral architectural conference, IIA NATCON 2025, from April 11 to 13. Themed "TRANSOM", meaning "bridge", the event aims to connect traditional and modern architectural practices.

One of the major highlights of IIA NATCON 2025 is its carbon-neutral status, making it a first-of-its-kind initiative in the field of Indian architecture. No disposable items will be used, and all print materials including banners will be produced on recycled jute, with an emphasis on minimizing electricity use. All delegates will travel from Bhopal to Indore by electric buses, and a bio-park with over 300 medicinal and fruit trees will be established locally.

More than 2,000 architects from India and abroad, including experts from the USA, UK, Germany, and other countries, will participate. The three-day event will begin in Bhopal on April 11, with sessions continuing in Indore on April 12 and 13. The conference will have sessions on sustainable design, urban planning, and innovative architectural technologies.

Keynote speakers will include Mariana Cabugueira (Portugal), Kai-Uwe Bergmann, Hassan Ragab (Egypt), Lawrence Wong, and Anupama Kundu.
