Madhya Pradesh: Over 5,000 kids malnourished, 400 severely malnourished in the district

Admit affected children to nutrition rehab centres, says Collector to officials. Only 21 children under treatment. Six nutrition rehab centres in district have 70-beds

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): Guna district collector Frank Noble A chaired a review meeting of Women and Child Development here and instructed them to improve nutritional level of malnourished kids in the district. At present 5,062 children are in moderately to severe malnourished category while 409 of them are severely malnourished in the district.

Collector said that the most severely malnourished children should be admitted in the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRC). No bed of NRC should remain vacant.

There are six NRCs in the district having total 70 beds and currently 21 children are admitted. The collector expressed displeasure and directed that malnourished children should be admitted to the vacant NRC seats.

District program officer DS Jadoun said that efforts are on to recruit 23 Anganwadi workers, 26 assistants and four mini-workers. Collector gave instructions to complete the process of recruitment.

There are total 1,660 anganwadi centers in the district out of which 419 anganwadis are operating in rented buildings. Giving information regarding the distribution of nutritious food, it was informed that out of 67,212 children in the age bracket of six months to 3 years- 56,704 were distributed nutritious food.

Collector ordered the supervisors to ensure that 100 % nutritional food be distributed. Collector was told that 1,26,174 children in the age group of 0 to 5 years are registered. Out of which the weight of 1,23, 522 children has been recorded taken. A total of 5,062 children were found to be moderately malnourished, 409 children were found to be severely malnourished.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 4,059 beneficiaries have been benefited. Collector instructed that according to the target, women should be provided benefits of the scheme.

Giving information about the Ladli Laxmi scheme, it was told that all the Ladli Laxmis have to be registered in the family ID, for this, all the supervisors were instructed by the collector to coordinate with the Panchayat Secretaries in a week, the names of all the Ladli Laxmi's beneficiary daughters should be put on records.
