Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): A special meeting of Neemuch Municipality was held on Wednesday at Bangla Number 60. In this special meeting, 18 proposals were presented for discussion.
Most proposals were passed unanimously, while some passed through division of votes. The conference saw heated debate between opposition and ruling party with allegations and counter-allegations.
The conference started at 11:30 am. Sanitation workers, led by All India Safai Mazdoor Sangh and Valmiki Mahasabha, handed over a demand letter to president Swati Chopra and CMO Durga Bamnia.
The letter demanded keeping 21 employees on job. After a half-hour discussion, the president and CMO assured that recruitment process would start soon.
Many councillors demanded blacklisting the contractor for irregularities in dog sterilisation work. Chairman Swati Chopra agreed and said new tender process will be adopted.
On street lighting issues, councillors said lights remain off in most wards during rain and repairs are delayed. They demanded that officials improve the system.
BJP councillor Neeraj Ahir made serious allegations of corruption in city construction work, claiming some people take Rs 10 lakh as brokerage.
Sharp differences occurred on proposals 17 and 18, which were passed through division votes. Proposal 17 was approved by 26 councillors, while proposal 18 approved 29 lease renewal cases.
Congress councillor Yogesh Prajapati and chairman Swati Chopra had a heated debate over corruption allegations.
