Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Thursday urged women to instill strong traditional and moral values in their children to shield them from what he described as the ‘vicious cycle of love jihad’ propagated by ‘non-Hindus’.

The minister was addressing a large gathering of women at a Raksha Bandhan event held in Indore-I assembly seat. More than 5,000 women attended the event, in which Vijayvargiya called for vigilance and cultural awareness, especially for young daughters.

“Daughters even leave their parents after falling prey to love jihad,” he claimed. “Money is coming from abroad for this purpose. One such gang was caught in Uttar

Pradesh and strict action was taken”, he said.

Highlighting his own upbringing, Vijayvargiya shared personal anecdotes about his mother teaching him Ramcharitmanas and Sundarkand in childhood. “I used to get food only after reciting couplets,” he said.

He recommended that parents should encourage children to read Hanuman Chalisa and visit Shiv temples to foster spiritual grounding and moral strength.

Sanatan values and power of women

Citing mythological examples of mutual respect between Lord Ram and Lord Shiva, Vijayvargiya said, “In our Sanatan culture, everyone is equal. There is a lot of distortion in society right now and it is the mother’s responsibility to correct it through values.”

He praised PM Narendra Modi and chief minister Mohan Yadav for their efforts towards women’s empowerment, noting, “Today, women are flying jet planes and have attacked Pakistan in Operation Sindoor. This is the strength of Indian women.”

He also touched upon government schemes for women, highlighting the monthly Rs 1,500 support for eligible women in Madhya Pradesh, which he said would increase to Rs 1,750 by next Rakhi.
