Indore (Madhya Pradesh): On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, the union ministry of culture will organise a three-day event from May 29 to 31. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will also participate in this event.
In this three-day festival, various programmes will be held in cities like Indore, Maheshwar and Varanasi etc, offering a glimpse of the good governance, women’s empowerment and public welfare work done by Devi Ahilyabai.
In this context, a meeting was held through video conference on Friday. Indore divisional commissioner Deepak Singh attended the meeting virtually from his office.
Principal secretary, culture, Shiv Shekhar Shukla informed that to make the Devi Ahilyabai Jayanti festival special, the state government was organising a cabinet meeting on May 20 at the historic Rajwada in the city.
During the three-day event, a mega conference of women entrepreneurs would be held, in which women who made themselves self-reliant and empowered through self-help groups and small industries etc would be invited.
A drama on the life and work of Lok Mata Devi Ahilyabai would also be staged. In the same sequence, a painting exhibition would be organised on the construction of wells, stepwells, dharamshalas and renovation of temples done by Devi Ahilyabai at various places like Indore, Maheshwar and Varanasi.

Shukla further informed that manuscripts related to the life and work of Devi Ahilyabai were being collected and would be displayed during the event. There would also be lectures on the good governance of Devi Ahilyabai.
Cultural activists, artists and educationists would participate in the event.
Divisional commissioner Deepak Singh said that various social organizations in the city celebrated the birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai on a large scale. This time, with the involvement of the union ministry of culture, the festival would be celebrated with more enthusiasm.
