Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The changes made in the platforms of eight major trains operating from the city railway station are likely to not only provide better facilities to the passengers but also significantly improve punctuality of the trains.

Cross-yard movement of the trains will be avoided, improving their operation time.

Earlier, trains like train number 12415 Indore-New Delhi Express, 22944 Indore-Daund Express, 20957 Indore-New Delhi Express, 22465 Indore-Kochuveli Express and 79306 Ratlam-Mhow DEMU were delayed due to more cross-yard movement during peak hours, but due to platform changes, these trains will now be able to run on time.

This will help the passengers to reach their destination on time. Train number 22944 Indore-Daund Express and 19315 Indore-Asarwa Express, which run under rationalized rake link and name boards of which were similar, created confusion among the passengers but that would also be addressed now.

This will also reduce the complaints coming to Rail Madad

Khemraj Meena, PRO of Ratlam Division informed that after changing the platform numbers of some trains, there would no longer be Z type cross movement in the yard, which would reduce detention, improve safety and ease the operation of new trains or special trains to be run during festivals in future. Apart from this, trains like train number 12962 Indore-Mumbai Central Avantika Express and 22944 Indore-Daund, which used to get delayed due to cross movement in the past, would now run smoothly in less time.

Apart from this, these trains could be placed on the platform in advance. This would make it easier for the passengers, he said.

By shifting train number 22944 Indore-Daud Express from platform 2 to platform 4, passengers would not need to climb the foot over bridge. The problem of cross movement during placement of empty coaching rakes would also end.

There would no longer be a problem of keeping train number 79306 Ratlam-Mhow DEMU outside during peak hours, which would facilitate movement of daily commuters. Along with this, the inconveniences faced by passengers during the ongoing station redevelopment work at the city station would also be reduced due to platform change, he said.

Meena said that the railway administration gave priority to the convenience and safety of passengers and would continue to work in this direction in future as well. Cooperation was expected from the passengers, he said.
