Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indian Railways is preparing for the trial run of the Indore-Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express, which is likely to take place in July.

The testing will happen between Palwal (Haryana) and Mathura (87 km), a section that is equipped with the Kavach system, a safety technology developed by Indian Railways.

During the trial, the train is expected to stop for 5 to 7 minutes at Agra Cantt station. The train will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, with an average speed between 120–130 km/h. For the test, 6 to 8 coaches will be used.

According to a Railway Board official, a new train rake has already reached New Delhi, and testing will begin soon. However, the final trial date will be decided only after approval from the Railway Board.

Currently, Indore has only one Vande Bharat Express, which runs between Indore and Nagpur. This train leaves Indore at 6:10 AM, reaches Bhopal by 9:10 AM, and arrives in Nagpur at 2:30 PM. The return journey starts from Nagpur at 3:20 PM, reaches Bhopal at 8:38 PM, and ends at Indore by 11:50 PM.

Indore MP Shankar Lalwani said the demand for a Vande Bharat train between Indore and New Delhi was raised six months ago with the Union Railway Minister.

Once operational, this train will provide a faster and more comfortable option for passengers traveling between Indore and New Delhi.

What is Kavach?

Kavach is an Indian-made automatic train protection system. It helps prevent accidents caused by human error, such as jumping signals or speeding. Kavach alerts the loco pilot to danger signals and automatically slows or stops the train if needed. It also ensures safer train operations in bad weather conditions.

The upcoming trial will also test the efficiency and working of the Kavach system on the Palwal–Mathura route.

Passengers in Madhya Pradesh are hopeful that the Indore-Nizamuddin Vande Bharat will soon be available for public travel after successful trials.
