Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In the cleanest city of the country which draws flak from every corner for inundation every monsoon, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is set to deploy a specially designed camera system to inspect and detect clogged drainage lines across the city.

This innovative technology, developed in-house by IMC’s Workshop Department, was showcased during an early morning inspection by commissioner (urban administration) Sanket Bhondve.

The advanced camera system is designed to travel through underground drainage lines capturing real-time visuals to pinpoint blockages with accuracy. Officials believe this tool will drastically reduce response time and increase efficiency in addressing one of the most common urban sanitation challenges.

Bhondve, accompanied by commissioner Shivam Verma and additional commissioner Abhilash Mishra, toured the municipal workshop at 8 am on Friday to review its operations and innovations. Workshop In-charge Manish Pandey demonstrated the camera system along with other technologies developed by the department.

“This type of innovation puts Indore ahead. Tools like this not only improve service delivery but also reflect the dedication of our teams on the ground,” said Bhondve. He said that the city’s success in cleanliness is rooted in the hard work of sanitation workers and municipal staff, calling them “our hands and our identity.”

Other notable innovations presented during the visit included the custom-built "Vanity Vans" used for public sanitation events, environmentally conscious methods adopted during Ganesh Visarjan and the efficient "Harvest System" for waste cleaning. The IMC team also outlined its streamlined vehicle maintenance protocols ensuring timely repair and operational readiness.

In recognition of exemplary service, two municipal mechanics—Shakeel Khan and Pramod Ware—were felicitated during the event. Bhondve expressed deep appreciation for the department's commitment and innovative mindset.

"With the introduction of the drainage inspection camera, IMC continues to set new standards in municipal management, reinforcing Indore’s reputation as India’s cleanest city driven by ground-level innovation and dedication," Verma said.
