Indore (Madhya Pradesh): This Diwali, Indore may get a transformative gift — the opening of its 11-station Metro Priority Corridor, which promises to reshape how the city commutes. If everything stays on track, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL) plans to launch the 11-km corridor for public use by October 2025.

On Thursday, MPMRCL Managing Director S Krishna Chaitanya led a comprehensive inspection of all 11 stations from Malviya Nagar Chauraha (Radisson Square) to Super Corridor-01 (SC-01), reviewing both civil and system works firsthand.

Beginning at 9 AM, the inspection tour spanned key stations — Vijay Nagar, Meghdoot Garden, Bapat, Heera Nagar, Chandragupta Square, ISBT, MR10, Bhorasla Square, SC-01, and SC-02 — and covered all critical infrastructure: entry/exit points, lifts, escalators, platform sheds (PEB), control and system rooms, and ticketing facilities.

“Work between Radisson Square and SC-02 is progressing rapidly. Civil work at two stations is already complete, five are in final stages, and the remaining four will likely take two to two-and-a-half months to complete. ” said MD Chaitanya during the visit.

The target, he emphasised, is to finish maximum civil and system works by early August, allowing time for mandatory safety clearances and trial runs. “If all goes well, we plan to open the corridor to the public in October,” he added.

To meet this ambitious timeline, Chaitanya urged civil, systems, and signaling contractors to work in parallel and in coordination. “Synchronised execution is the key. Delays in one segment can affect the entire timeline,” he said firmly.

This ground inspection followed a detailed progress review held earlier on June 18, which brought together senior engineers, consultants, and project directors. Thursday’s visit reinforced the urgency and reiterated MPMRCL’s commitment to delivering the metro on time.

Top officials present included Ajay Gupta (Director, Projects), Arun Kumar Srivastava (Director, Systems), and key personnel from departments overseeing civil works, tracks, signaling, rolling stock, and traffic systems.
