Indore: Manager of government dept booked for embezzling Rs 5.79 crore

SP Shah said that Talele had misused his position and embezzled money. A case under sections 420 and 409 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the manager and further investigations are underway.

Indore (Madhya pradesh): The Economic Offences Wing registered a case against the manager of the tribal welfare department posted in Jhabua for allegedly embezzling Rs 5.79 crore by misusing his position, an officer said on Wednesday.

According to SP (EOW) Dhananjay Shah, a complaint was received against Sunil Talele, manager of the tribal welfare department in Jhabua that he had prepared fake bills for buying raw material for tables, chairs, almirahs and so forth for the training-cum-production centre in Jhabua. He had updated the fake information in the cash book and the register of the centre. Thus, he embezzled money causing revenue loss to the government.

Inspector Leena Maroth was instructed to verify the complaint. Investigations revealed that Talele had bought raw material to make furniture without taking permission from the higher officials. The officials checked the bank statement between February 2014 and September 2021 and found that the manager had spent Rs 5.79 crore under this head.

SP Shah said that Talele had misused his position and embezzled money. A case under sections 420 and 409 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the manager and further investigations are underway.
