Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife and attempting to cremate her body secretly in Kankariya Pal village under Hatod Police Station jurisdiction, as reported on Friday.
Upon receiving information about the suspicious death, Hatod police station in-charge Sangeeta Solanki and her team reached the spot and found a man identified as Dharmendra Chandriwal (29), a resident of the same village.
Dharmendra was alone at the cremation ground, carrying petrol, gathering wood and cow dung cakes in an attempt to burn the body of his wife, Pooja, illegally.
According to villagers, they intervened and prevented the accused from setting the body on fire. They also immediately alerted the police about the matter.

'Wife used to leave home frequently'
During interrogation, Dharmendra allegedly confessed to killing his wife Pooja with a sword, allegedly due to suspicions about her character.
The suspicion arose as she used to leave home repeatedly, said the accused.
A case has been registered against Dharmendra under sections 103 and 238 (a) of the Bhartiya Nyay Shanhita (BNS). Police have seized the sword used in the crime, and Dharmendra would be present before the court.
Further investigation is on into the case.
