Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In the lanes of Shivdham Colony, Limbodi, a quiet yet powerful mission unfolds each night. Constable Bhupendra Bamniya, posted in Indore, has been transforming young lives not with weapons or authority, but with books and knowledge.

Hailing from a small town in Dhar and joining the police force at just 19 with his first posting in Alirajpur, Bhupendra encountered firsthand the deep-rooted educational inequalities in tribal regions.

“In Alirajpur, children didn’t know the names of basic fruits like mango and pomegranate. That was the state of awareness and education,” he recalls. Troubled by the lack of access to quality learning, Bhupendra made a commitment: to give others what he had—knowledge.

In 2021, he began teaching 25 to 30 students for free, preparing them for police exams. To his surprise and joy, 15 of them cleared their tests. Inspired, his friend Amit Rawat from Jobat, whom he met during his Alirajpur posting, joined him.

Together, they expanded their efforts, helping over 50 students gain admission into prestigious institutions like Navodaya Vidyalayas and Army Schools.

To formalise their growing movement, the duo founded Suman Foundation in 2024. The organisation is committed to education and blood donation, with over 300 youth volunteers registered to donate blood on short notice. “Everyone works for themselves.

I just thought—why not do something for society too?” says Bhupendra, who still teaches daily from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. after his duty hours. Around 200 students attend online and 15 study with him offline every night—free of cost.

Endorsed by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Amit Kumar Singh, Bhupendra’s story is not just one of service, but of quiet revolution. A constable by designation, but an educator, mentor and change maker by purpose—he hopes to continue serving the nation by raising generations that are empowered, informed and compassionate.
