Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore administration is conducting a major crackdown on the illegal commercial use, storage, and refilling of domestic LPG cylinders.
The authorities in Indore have seized a total of 156 cylinders in separate operations carried out over the past few days.
The action was taken on the instructions of Collector Asheesh Singh and executed by the Food and Civil Supplies Department under the leadership of District Supply Controller ML Maru.
108 cylinders seized
As part of a special 3-day campaign, the inspection teams seized 108 cylinders from 16 hotels and restaurants - one illegal warehouse, and 2 unauthorized gas refilling centers.
This included 83 cylinders of 14.2 kg capacity, 19 cylinders of 3 kg, and 6 cylinders of 19 kg.
The raids were conducted in areas like Manglia and Palda. After this 18 cases were registered under the Essential Commodities Act. Also, 2 FIRs were filed in separate incidents.
48 cylinders confiscated in another operation
In another operation, 2 inspection teams raided multiple locations in different parts of the city and 48 cylinders and related equipment were seized.
Team 1 was operating near Aurobindo Hospital and found illegal refilling in progress at Sanjari Light House Gas Stove Repair Centre. The store was owned by Mohammad Shadab.
5 domestic cylinders of 14.2 kg and 19 small non-standard cylinders of 3 kg were seized along with a weighing scale and a brass gas refilling pipe.
7 other domestic cylinders were reported to be in commercial use.
Team 2 targeted 3 restaurants in the Airport Road, Shikshak Nagar, and Kalani Nagar areas. Here, 17 domestic cylinders were seized due to commercial use.
Officials have warned that strict action will continue against such violations. They also urged citizens to report any incident of illegal LPG cylinder usage or refilling.
