Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore continues to see a steady rise in COVID-19 cases, with seven new cases reported on Wednesday, taking the city's total to 33 confirmed cases. Of these, 25 are residents of Indore city. Currently, 17 of these cases are classified as active.

Among the new patients are a 43-year-old woman who had recently returned from Mathura, a 48-year-old woman from Badrinath, a 69-year-old woman from Kerala, a 36-year-old man from Raipur, and a 29-year-old man who had travelled from Odisha. Two of the infected individuals had no recent travel history, indicating potential local transmission.

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr BS Setiya confirmed that most of the infected individuals have only mild symptoms and are recovering in home isolation. Contact tracing is underway, and the health department is currently collecting samples only from symptomatic individuals.

In a bid to manage the caseload and focus on symptomatic patients, health authorities have decided to discharge individuals from home isolation if they have completed one week without any symptoms. Re-testing is not required for such cases, in line with current COVID-19 management guidelines.

15 patients discharged from home isolation

Out of the 33 COVID-19 cases reported in Indore, 15 patients have been discharged from home isolation after successful recovery.

Health officials stated that, as per current guidelines, patients who complete seven days of home isolation and remain fever-free for three consecutive days are eligible for discharge without the need for re-testing.
