IMC Elections 2022: 18.35L voters seal fate of 19 mayoral and 341 councillor candidates today

Voting will be held from 7 am to 5 pm; Counting of votes to be held on July 17

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A total of 1,835,316 voters of the cleanest smart city will elect their 85 councillors and mayor on Wednesday. For the post of mayor, 19 candidates and for the post of councillors 341 candidates are in the fray. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm. The counting of votes will be done on July 17.

The IMC elections are being held on the instructions of the Supreme Court as the tenure of the mayor and councillors of IMC got over about 2 years ago. For the voting, 2,250 polling booths have been set up. Voters can exercise their franchise by showing the voters’ ID card, passport, bank passbook, driving licence, EPFO card, or any card issued by the central or the state government.

Order on setting up polling aid booth

Candidates are allowed to set up voters’ assistance booths at a distance of more than 100 metres from the polling station. At the booth, one table, two chairs and one banner (up to 2 feet x 3 feet) will be allowed. Even if more than one polling station is established in the same place, the candidate will be allowed to set up only one voters’ assistance booth. If these rules are not followed, the sector officer, sector magistrate and police officers will have the right to remove such booths. Also, permission of the local bodies will be necessary. It will be mandatory to give information about these booths to the police, as well.
