Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): Farmers in Khargone district are facing immense hardship in securing fertilisers at government rates, with many spending sleepless nights just to receive a token. Despite queuing for hours, farmers are only able to purchase 3 to 5 bags of fertiliser and often have to wait two to three more days after receiving a token.
Tensions escalated on Wednesday at Umarkhali Road cooperative marketing centre during fertiliser distribution. Farmers, who had lined up as early as the previous night, were angered when staff announced that only non-urea fertilisers were available. The frustrated farmers left the sales centre and marched nearly 1 km to Bistan Naka, where they blocked the Chittorgarh–Bhusawal highway in protest.
The road blockade caused massive traffic jams, with hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides. Despite intervention by police and agricultural officials, the farmers remained firm in their demand for urea. The protest continued from 11.30 am until 3.00 pm, underscoring growing unrest over poor fertiliser distribution and the lack of timely supply at official centres.
Delegation urges CM to probe construction
Kasrawad (Madhya Pradesh): A delegation led by Khargone MP Gajendra Patel met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to address the ongoing issues with the canals of Omkareshwar Project, on Wednesday. Farmers of the region are suffering due to inadequate canal construction and access to water resources.
Accompanying Patel, farmer leader Virendra Patidar Pawthewala urged the CM to investigate alleged corruption related to the canal's construction.

Patidar said that the struggle for canal access is 16 years old as the Omkareshwar project was supposed to provide water by 2008. Currently, around 10,000 farmers remain deprived of the essential water resource.
The canal spans 70 kilometres, with approximately 30 kilometres remaining dry. This Rs 200 crore project aimed to facilitate irrigation in 24,000 hectares of land across 126 villages, yet ground realities are different.
