Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): The assistant commandant of 24th Battalion in Jaora attempted suicide by ingesting a large amount of depression pills on Friday morning. Before consuming the pills, he participated in the battalion's parade in the morning.

As per reports, Rambabu Pathak was rushed to a private clinic by his family members. Later, he was referred to Ratlam Medical College and subsequently transferred to Bombay Hospital, Indore.

His daughter Muskan and his wife accused senior officers of the battalion of harassment. They said Rambabu had been suffering from depression since 2020 and had been advised by doctors to take rest, but the department seniors said that Rambabu was feigning his ailment.

According to reports, he had posted a suicide note on a social media platform, which was later deleted. Muskan said that her father had often expressed desire to end his life daily, stating, "I am tired."

Muskan said that a departmental inquiry was initiated against him, only to find that he was innocent and was cleared of any wrongdoing. She claimed that senior officers deliberately tarnished his Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) three times and ignored his health concerns.
