A woman riding a scooter was severely injured after getting caught in Chinese manja near the Krishna Kunj flyover in Delhi's Laxmi Nagar.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media. The manja caused injuries to the woman's face, with blood oozing from the cuts.
This incident has come to light at a time when Delhi Police is running a campaign against Chinese manja.
Every year, during Republic Day, extensive kite flying takes place in Delhi and the surrounding areas. Recently, the Interstate Cell of Delhi Police's Crime Branch has exposed a gang supplying banned Chinese manja in a major operation. In this operation, two accused, Manish (23) and Saleem Pathan, have been arrested. Both are residents of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Police have recovered a total of 660 rolls of dangerous Chinese manja from their possession.
According to reports, despite strict prohibition, the sale of deadly Chinese manja is gaining momentum in the capital's markets.
Shopkeepers are charging high prices for it, where the cost of one reel ranges from Rs 800 to Rs 1,300. Shopkeepers are asking buyers to place advance orders. In previous years, many people have lost their lives after getting caught in this manja
