Kolkata: Sparking more speculations, Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth wing leader Md. Aftabuddin on Sunday met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh during morning walk at Eco Park in the New Town area and gave him flowers.

Talking to the media, Ghosh said, “So far, I was just a BJP leader. If the entire society thinks of me to be their leader, what can I say. He is a local resident of this area.”

The TMC leader said that he came to wish Ghosh after his marriage.

“This was not any political meeting. We all do morning walks together. Dilip Ghosh has started his second innings of life. He got married so we came to wish him,” said Md. Aftabuddin.

Notably, controversy started after the former BJP MP and former state president Dilip Ghosh visited Jagannath temple at Digha on its inauguration day on April 30 and also held a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Since then several BJP leaders have mocked Ghosh.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari welcomed Odisha’s minister of Law Prithviraj Harichandan’s appeal of investigation into the controversies involving the disgraceful conduct of persons of interest associated with the Shree Jagannath Temple of Puri.

“The questionable involvement of Servitors, and the unauthorized use of surplus Sacred Wood (sacred Neem wood from the Nabakalebara rituals) are directly affront to ethics and morality surrounding the Jagannath Culture and centuries long traditions. The West Bengal Government has stooped to a new low with their deceitful tactics, officially labeling the Digha Project as the “Jagannath Dham Cultural Centre” in documents, but promoting it as a “Jagannath Temple” to mislead devotees and exploit their faith. Regarding the controversy of naming a newly constructed site as a "Dham" must be addressed and West Bengal Government's duplicity should be exposed. "Dhams" hold immense religious and cultural significance, deeply tied to specific deities, traditions, and historical contexts. The concept of a "Dham" in Hinduism refers to a sacred pilgrimage site. Traditionally and historically the four Dhams are Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, and Rameswaram. The Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is one such Dham, uniquely revered as the abode of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, with centuries old rituals like the Rath Yatra,” (sic) read the post of Adhikari on X..
