Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) heavyweight leader of Birbhum Anubrata Mondal on Thursday had appeared before police after evading summons for a week citing health issues.
Mondal was seen reaching SDPO office at Bolpur at around 3:30 pm in connection to the alleged use of derogatory words during a telephonic conversation with Bolpur police station IC Liton Haldar.
According to police sources, videography has been done while Mondal was questioned for almost two hours.
The police sources also stated that Mondal has been informed that he might be called again if needed.
Notably, a purported audio clip surfaced last week where Mondal was allegedly heard using derogatory words and was also seen threatening Bolpur IC in the telephonic conversation.
However, FPJ didn't verify the authenticity of the audio clip.
Following this incident a section of TMC leaders have criticised Mondal for using such words and the party asked him to tender ‘unconditional apology’. Mondal however, had given an apology letter to TMC leader Subrata Bakshi.

Last week when Mondal was summoned his counsel had submitted the medical certificates to the SDPO office. Mondal also evaded second summon citing health issue.
Leader Of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that Mondal had visited SDPO office following affirmation from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“Nothing will happen to Anubrata Mondal as Mamata Banerjee’s blessing is with him. The IC, who is a Hindu his mobiles got seized and he will also be suspended,” said Adhikari.
