Budaun: A devastating fire broke out at the Nuamish fair in Gandhi Maidan, Budaun, on Monday morning, charring over 20 shops and causing estimated losses worth lakhs of rupees. The blaze, accompanied by loud explosions from bursting cylinders, created a chaotic scene and spread panic among vendors and visitors.
The fire reportedly started in one of the shops and quickly spread throughout the fair. Upon receiving the information, multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot and battled the inferno for two hours before bringing it under control. Goods from crockery, toy, and other shops were completely destroyed in the blaze.
District officials, including ADM Administration Arun Kumar, SP City Vijyendra Dwivedi, SDM Sadar Mohit Singh, and CO City Rajneesh Upadhyay, visited the site to assess the damage.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the rapid spread and cylinder explosions contributed to the extensive destruction. Several shopkeepers, particularly women, were seen weeping as they watched their livelihoods turn to ashes
