Jhansi: A team of government officials conducting an operation against illegal sand mining in the Mau Ranipur area of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, was attacked by sand miners. The attackers subsequently fled with two seized tractors loaded with sand.

Mau Ranipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ajay Yadav reported that the incident occurred on Wednesday during an ongoing campaign against illicit sand mining. The perpetrators, including the tractor drivers, verbally abused the SDM's staff before escaping with the impounded, sand-laden vehicles.

A complaint has been filed at the Katera police station by Kamta Prasad, a security personnel accompanying the SDM and a resident of Itayal village. The SDM stated that he, along with two other officials, Mahendra Singh and Kamlesh, were attempting to stop tractors illegally transporting sand near the Jait Mata Temple in Kachnev village when the assault took place.

Police have identified two of the alleged attackers as tractor drivers Sohit Yadav and Ankit Yadav. An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against all involved suspects, and an investigation is underway. Law enforcement authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend the perpetrators.
