A high level meeting was held today in Meerut involving officials from UP, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttarakhand to finalize security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, which begins on July 11. An estimated four crore pilgrims are expected to participate.

The Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, announced that all liquor shops along the Kanwar route will be covered with curtains from July 11, though they will remain open. Drone surveillance will be implemented across the entire route to ensure safety and monitor activities. A new traffic plan, effective from the night of July 10, will prohibit heavy vehicles in cities along the route.

Within city limits, one lane will be exclusively for pilgrims, while smaller vehicles will use the other.

Additionally, regulations for DJ systems used by pilgrims have been set: volume must not exceed 75 decibels, and height must not exceed 12 feet. For security, an IPS officer will be deployed every 15 km,. Strict security measures will be enforced at the borders of Delhi, UP, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan, with Dog Squads, Bomb Disposal Squads, and intelligence units actively involved.
