Three men allegedly gang-raped a minor inside a moving car in Uttar Pradesh, while another woman – the victim's friend who was accompanying her – died after being pushed out of the vehicle. The victim reportedly escaped from the car in Bulandshahr and filed a police complaint, leading to the arrest of the three accused.
According to reports, the survivor told police that on Tuesday evening, she and her friend agreed to accompany the accused after they promised them jobs and a ride to Lucknow. The men later purchased alcohol and consumed it in the car.
A fight subsequently broke out between the intoxicated men during which the accused – identified as Sandeep and Amit from Greater Noida, and Gaurav from Ghaziabad – pushed one of the women out of the car in Meerut. She later died from her injuries.
According to reports, the minor, who remained in the vehicle was then sexually assaulted by all three men, but managed to escape near Khurja in Bulandshahr district, approximately 100 kilometres from Meerut. After she reported the incident, police intercepted the suspects' Kia Seltos on the Aligarh-Bulandshahr highway, resulting in a confrontation.
During the encounter, two suspects – Gaurav and Sandeep – sustained leg injuries from police gunfire. Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh confirmed authorities recovered two illegal firearms along with used and unused ammunition.
A formal complaint was registered on Wednesday at Khurja Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharat Nyay Sanhita.
The Samajwadi Party, the opposition party in the state, has reacted to the incident and demanded strict action against the accused.
Taking to X on Sunday, the SP said, "The incompetent Yogi government in power — sisters and daughters are falling victim to brutality every day! A minor girl was gang-raped in a moving car in Bulandshahr, and her friend was run over and killed. Once again, the Chief Minister's claims about law and order and the safety of daughters have been exposed."
