Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: A divine moment unfolded at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Sunday, April 6, as devotees witnessed the much-anticipated ‘Surya Tilak’, a beam of sunlight illuminating the forehead of Ram Lalla's idol precisely at noon on the occasion of Ram Navami.

This rare celestial event, achieved through an intricate optical system, drew gasps from thousands of devotees present at the temple. The ‘Surya Tilak’ is the key highlight of the annual Ram Navami festivity, which symbolises a divine connection between the sun and the deity.

Have a look at the visuals from the temple here:

Ayodhya, reportedly the birthplace of Lord Ram, celebrated the festival with unmatched grandeur. The temple complex was adorned with vibrant floral decorations and dazzling lights, drawing lakhs of pilgrims from across India. According to reports, over two lakh diyas were lit as part of the celebrations, creating a mesmerising spectacle.

Devotees began their spiritual journey with a ritual dip in the sacred Saryu River before heading to the temple. In keeping with tradition, young girls symbolising the nine avatars of Goddess Durga were offered prasad and gifts across various households.

Authorities made elaborate arrangements for the influx of pilgrims, with special emphasis on crowd control, health safety, and security. Drones were deployed to spray Saryu water on the gathering devotees to help them cope with the intense heat. ORS packets were distributed to prevent dehydration.

IG Ayodhya range Praveen Kumar told ANI, “The holy city has been divided into different zones and sectors. Heavy vehicles will be diverted via the Purvanchal Expressway to ensure no inconvenience for pilgrims.” He added that paramilitary forces, PAC, and civil police were deployed, while NDRF, SDRF, and water police remained on high alert along the riverbanks.
Special passes for the Ram Temple were suspended during peak hours to prioritise regular worshippers.
