Jaipur: The intelligence agencies have detained the manager of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) guest house located near Chandan Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer on charges of alleged espionage. He is suspected to be spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI.
Confirming detention, Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare said that the manager Mahendra will be thoroughly interrogated by joint intelligence agencies to get the details of the information he has allegedly shared with ISI.
"Mahendra was working on a contract in the guest house and was suspected of leaking secret information. All the employees here will be screened,” said the SP.
The police said that the Mahendra Singh is from Almora district of Uttarakhand and was serving in the guest house for the last four-five years. The guest house is located in a strategically very sensitive area, where the Indian forces conduct various military exercises and the scientists and experts of DRDO used to stay during special operations.
Initial investigation has revealed that the manager was probably in contact with ISI agents active in Pakistan through a mobile phone, which was under surveillance as some calls from Pakistan were intercepted on this number. The detailed investigation is going on.
