Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, two women were allegedly gang-raped by three men in Karnataka on Thursday. The women, a 27-year-old Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old homestay owner were stargazing near the banks of the popular Sanapur Lake, near Hampi at around 11:30 pm, reported News18.
The incident took place when the women along with three other male travellers were stargazing at the banks of the river. The accused attacked the other three travellers and reportedly pushed them into the canal before sexually assaulting the women.
The three male travellers have been identified as Daniel, who is from the United States. Pankaj from Maharashtra and Bibash from Odisha. Bibash is went missing after the assault. Later on Saturday morning his body was recovered.
In a police complaint, the 29-year-old homestay owner said that she and her four guests went stargazing near the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal after dinner, reported NDTV.

Three men on a motorcycle approached them and they first asked where the nearby petrol pump was and then they started demanding Rs 100. When the homestay owner and the tourists refused the three accused, they allegedly attacked them. After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot.
Police are searching for the missing tourist. The woman is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered under sections 309(6) (theft or extortion), 64 (rape), 70(1) (gang-rape), 311 (robbery or dacoity with the intent to cause death or grievous hurt), 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), reported News18.
A manhunt operation has been launched to nab the accused.
