The Indian government has declared a Pakistani diplomat stationed at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as "persona non grata" and ordered the official to leave the country within 24 hours.

In an official press release issued today, the Indian Foreign Ministry stated that the Pakistani official was being expelled for "indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India."

The Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission was summoned and issued a formal diplomatic protest note (demarche) regarding the matter.

While specific details about the activities that prompted this action have not been disclosed, diplomatic expulsions typically occur when officials are suspected of espionage or other actions deemed harmful to national security.

This development comes days after India-Pakistan announce ceasation of firings and military actions against each other on Saturday May 10.

Earlier today, PM Modi visited the Adampur Air Base and interacted with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel. He was briefed on Operation Sindoor. After meeting the air warriors, the Prime Minister called it a very special experience.

PM Modi said the nation "eternally grateful" to the armed forces as India successfully carried out Operation Sindoor. Notably, the Adampur air base played a crucial role in the recent India-Pakistan conflict after India targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Operation Sindoor.
