New Delhi, August 09: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will launch the FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, 2025. The annual pass will offer greater convenience and savings for private vehicle owners who frequently travel on national highways and expressways.

As announced by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the pass will cost ₹3,000 and cover up to 200 toll transactions or one year of validity, whichever comes first, eliminating the need for repeated recharges.

Only For Private Vehicles

Available only for non-commercial vehicles with an active and properly affixed FASTag linked to the correct vehicle registration, the pass will work across toll plazas operated by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, but not on state highways or local toll roads.

How To Purchase The Pass Online?

Users can purchase the pass online via the Rajmarg Yatra app or the official NHAI/MoRTH portals by logging in, verifying eligibility and making the payment. Once activated on Independence Day 2025, the pass will enable cashless, contactless and faster toll payments, helping reduce congestion and improving travel efficiency.

After the quota or validity expires, the system will revert to normal pay-per-use FASTag mode. The pass is non-transferable, non-refundable, and requires manual renewal after expiry.

Here Are The FAQs Regarding The Annual Pass: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways cleared few FAQs about the availability, transfer and other details about the annual pass.

Q: What is FASTag?

A: FASTag is a small sticker with RFID technology that lets you pay tolls automatically from your linked bank account. It is placed on your vehicle’s windscreen so you can pass through toll plazas without stopping. The toll amount is deducted directly from your account. Each FASTag is linked to one vehicle and cannot be moved to another.

Q: What is the FASTag Annual Pass?
A: Annual Pass activated on the FASTag allows free passage of car/jeep/van at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or 200 crossings (whichever is earlier), without per-crossing user fee charges. The Annual Pass will be effective from 15th August 2025.

Q: Where can I purchase the Annual Pass?
A: The Annual Pass can be activated on the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application and NHAI website.

Q: Is the Annual Pass available for all vehicle types?
A: No. The Annual Pass is applicable only for private non-commercial Car/Jeep/Van after checking through VAHAN database. Use in any commercial vehicle will result in immediate deactivation without notice.

Q: Can I transfer my Annual Pass to another vehicle?
A: No. The pass is non-transferable and is valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is affixed and registered. Using it on another vehicle will lead to deactivation.

Q: Which Fee Plazas are covered under the Annual Pass?
A: It is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At fee plazas on Expressways, State Highways (SH), etc. managed by State Governments or local bodies, the FASTag will operate as a regular FASTag, and applicable user fee charges may apply.

Q: How long is the Annual Pass valid?
A: The Annual Pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 transactions (trips), whichever comes first. Once the Annual Pass completes either 200 trips or one year from activation, it will automatically revert to a regular FASTag. To continue using the Annual Pass benefits, the user will need to re-activate the Annual Pass to get 200 trips / 1 year validity.
