New Delhi: An undertrial prisoner was killed by two other inmates inside the Saket Court lockup on Thursday, June 5. The deceased has been identified as Aman. As per Delhi Police, he was brought to the court for proceedings.
At the time of the incident, other undertrial prisoners (UTPs) were also present inside the lockup. The accused have been identified as Jitender and Jaidev. As per the police, there was an old dispute going on between Aman and Jitender.
"An incident of assault took place on 5th June in Kharja No. 5 of Saket Court Lock-up. One Aman was brought to the lock-up for production before the Court. At the time of the incident, a lot of undertrial prisoners (UTPs), including the deceased Aman were present inside the said Kharja," the police said in a statement as reported by ANI.
"Two UTPs Jitender and Jaidev assaulted the victim. Jitender and Aman had old animosity between them due to an incident of assault that happened in 2024 when they both were outside the jail. Aman allegedly assaulted Jitender and his brother with knife in that incident," the police added.
The body was sent for post-mortem, and a case of murder is being registered. Further investigation is underway.
