Bhartiya Janata Party MP Rekha Sharma, has hit out at the Congress for sharing a video of her singing Bollywood song "Jane Tu Ya Jane Na" during the all party delegation's visit in Algeria. The official X handle of Congress on Thursday shared a video of Rekha Sharma singing during the all party delegation visit in Algeria and claimed the video to be from Kuwait.
The Congress claimed, "May 27 Indian Delegation Visits Kuwait And Sings Songs May 28: Kuwait Reopens Pakistani Visa Applications After A 19-Yr Ban," questioning India's diplomacy.
Responding to the claims, BJP MP Rekha Sharma said,"It deeply hurts when a genuine moment of diplomacy is twisted for political hate." She further fact-checked the Congress, saying the video was from Algeria and not from Kuwait and the song she sang was loved by Algerians- a claim she supported by sharing a clip from a documentary.
"The song loved by Algerians was sung not at a party, but as a gesture of friendship, in a room filled with respect for India. Shameful how Congress stoops and mocks just to score cheap political points," she said.
She further said, "The video was from Algeria, not Kuwait — but how would they know? They can’t even locate the country on the map! This is why India can’t trust a party that insults and embarrasses its own country."
The all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda arrived in Algeria on 30 May. The visit was after concluding its tour to Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
